Overwhelmed? Putting off a difficult decision? Not sure if you should leave the relationship, the job, sell the house and move to your dream island? Then today’s coaching tip work sheet is here to help you cope AND hopefully come up with some answers!
Step 1) Acknowledge that a quick-fix probably isn’t going to work for this situation. If it was, you would have already come up with it. Really, you would have. You are smart, beautiful and more than capable. I promise you this!
Step 2) This next step is old advice but it will be good to you. Make a pro’s & con’s list weighing out all your options. What is the cost of making your decision? What is the cost of not making it? Be sure to factor in the total cost, emotional, physical, spiritual and last but not least the financial cost.
Step 3) Accept that rarely in life is there a perfect time to deal with a problem, or a perfect solution to every problem. If it’s a big decision it’s going to bring up big feelings of fear and anxiety, this is normal AND it’s not a sign that you shouldn’t take action!
Step 4) Understand that not deciding is deciding. Please GO BACK AND READ THAT SENTENCE AGAIN. Don’t give away your power by not deciding to take some form of action. Not making a choice is choosing to stay in “analysis paralysis” a very uninspired place to hang out in.
Step 5) Once you make your decision, acknowledge to yourself that you have made a choice and honor that choice. Say what you mean, mean what you say AND do what you said you would do because if you are going do it, really do it! Your future Self will thank you for living your life with integrity.
Step 6) Be gentle with yourself. Honoring our truth takes great courage and there is nothing to be gained by engaging in self-doubt, negative self-talk or second guessing the decision you have just made. Right now, in this moment, you have made the best choice for you with your current level of understanding. You have shown up, honoured your truth and done your best with the information that is currently available to you, that is something worth celebrating!
